Freaky Friday
So.......
I noticed a recall on Simplicity cribs with the tubular bottom frame, it could buckle, bend, or break away. Which happens to be the kind of crib we have. I knew there were other recalls on the crib because of the drop rail not being safe, but we choose just to face that side next to the wall. I thought at first we might be able to just deal with the possible problem, and pray nothing goes wrong, but there is always that thought in your head, let's be safe and not sorry later. I called up Target where we bought the crib years ago when Saffron was a baby. Come to find out the Simplicity Co. is out of business and that there are recalls on all their cribs for one reason or another (I guess I can see why the company went out of business!) So, after being told I would have no problem getting the crib returned and getting a credit, I disassembled the crib, loaded up the kids, and off to Target we went. I already had the crib in mind I wanted to purchase, which was great since the snow was not too far off.
Everyone at the store was more than helpful in helping us unload the old crib from the car, and the new one in. It was somewhat of a pain putting it together with the kids around, but I managed. And as I write this, I can hear Sebastian snoring on the monitor, so I know he's taking to his new crib very well!
So what started out as a freaky (scary) situation, it worked out even better in the end.
Our new sleigh crib!
After spending all morning putting this together, I came to realize how much better it is than the old one we had. Maybe it's because the other one was a drop rail, and doing that everyday, it wore out the crib in itself, making it less durable. This crib is so solid! I love it......
"Bye old crib............"
"Hello new crib....."
"New is good.....thanks mom!"
"This crib seems harder to climb out of....hum.........now what??"
Of course Sebastian had to Christen the crib......
"Okay people.......everyone out, I need to check this out......Yawn......."

Birthday Presents.....
When Derek got home tonight, Saffron was real eager for Sebastian to open the gifts she picked out for him. At first he wasn't really sure what to make of the gifts.....
then daddy showed him the way....
(meanwhile Saffron was opening up a late Christmas present....)
Saffron inspecting the gifts, just to be sure they work....
"Thanks mom....this CD player rocks!"
Daddy started the gift, then Sebastian got the idea....
"Let me do it daddy!"
"That's what I'm talking about!!"
"WOW my own phone, now I can call Grandma anytime I want to!"
Not sure why??? Sebastian decided to eat a few pieces of cardboard while waiting for his toy to be unwrapped.
"Hum....doesn't taste like much........"
"Think I'll pass on seconds......"
"Hello......hello Grandma??.....anyone home???....."
"Well, I guess I'll call back later......."

The Night Before Birth
As I sit here and think back to the night before I had my son, it was snowing, just as it is now. Our babies and weather......it was pouring rain the night we had Saffron, and we awoke to a snow storm when we had Sebastian. To get things moving we had made a trip to the hospital one night before we had Sebastian, and little did we know he would come just one day after.
It was a really long and hard night for me with more Braxton Hicks, and a restless sleep of having to get up to pee. I remember getting up to use the washroom, laying back in bed unable to get back to sleep. Tossing and turning for what seemed like 1 hr, I rolled over, heard a pop-pop, then my water broke. Yelling to Derek to wake up, it's time to go, our venture into parenthood began at 5:12am. We were very lucky to have a friend right in town that came over to watch Saffron so we could make our way to the hospital, calling Grandma Jo and Grandpa Blume, who make their way from Fennimore, only to be stuck in their driveway for 1/2hr. Time flew by from there, almost like the blink of the eye and at 7:10am we welcomed our son, Sebastian Byron into this world weighing in at 7lbs 7oz 19inches long.
Our lives forever changed again, and our family was complete. We are so blessed to have Sebastian in our lives. He has changed ever so much over the year, and can't believe he will be 1yr old tomorrow.......
He came into the world like this.....
and this.....

and this.....

and this.....

awe.....and this....
