Building a Friend, a Friend for Life

Who knew buying diapers and taking the time to enter a zillion codes, could pay off like it has for our family.  Two kids, and a million or so diapers....you get the idea.  And be honest, who actually takes time to enter those little codes stuck to them??  I know I do, a few little points at a time.  We have gotten some really nice gifts from Pampers over the years.....puzzles, toys, mommy gift packages, and what not....the more points you save the better the reward.  I was sent a survey to fill out, and while some of those pesky spam emails I delete, I figure since I use the products still, I'd take the time to fill it out, and give great feedback on how wonderful the company was, and how great the Gifts to Grow program was for our family.  When Saffron was younger, we would set potty rewards for her.  When she reached those goals, I'd let her choose a gift from the program based on how many points I had saved up.  Her last reward was a book "Going on a Bear Hunt" and a little stuffed bear.  She was so proud to get a gift in the mail, with her name on it to enjoy.  Yesterday I got a very nice card from the Big Top Executive who came across my email comment, that was supposedly passed around the company, and how great it made them all feel.  Inclosed inside were two very generous gift cards, one for the mom and dads to enjoy, and one for my kids to enjoy.  I was not expecting anything like that, and it sure made my day.  I'm so glad to support a company who treats their customers so well!  Thanks Pampers for all you do!

After having to run a few errands this morning, I decided to take a nice walk around the inside of the mall, and surprise my kids by going there.  My kids were the only ones in the store when we went.  They did not know what to think of all the stuffies that were in the store.  The very nice employee took the kids around, and showed them how to pick a new friend, and prepare the friend to come home.  Saffron decided on a horse, and Sebastian found a bear with a Nemo fish (since he loves the movie "Finding Nemo")

For those that don't know how Build a Bear works....here's a quick run down...
Pick a Friend

Collect a heart

And if you want a scent for it, a sound, an actual heart beat (these go inside)

Then you head over to the stuffing machine, where you can decide how much goes in..soft, squishy, or firm

After it's stuffed you must get the heart beat going...jump up and down, rub it on your head to make it smart, rub it on your ear so it listens, then on your heart so they beat as one, and then so it keeps you warm at night you need to rub it between your hands

Bear is stitched together, and you get to hug it for the first time

Then you must give it a bath, and brush it

Then if you choose you can shop for clothes, shoes, and all the essential bear necessities!

Then you get to name the bear, and take it home in it's own house! (made of cardboard)

Beth doing the test to see how soft it is...Saffron asked for it soft.

time to get the heart beat going....jump Saffron....

time to make the heart warm...

placing the heat inside, and sewing up the horse....

Sebastian staying as far away as possible...I had to press the pump while sitting on the ground...

Waiting while the noisy machine stuffs the bear......

Lots of stuffing for future bear friends!

Presenting "Nemo" Bear!

Saffron was kind enough to get Sebastian's Bear's heart pumping, and gently placed it into the bear.

Nothing like a pretend bath, and groom after a day of stuffing....

Time to brush and fluff!

Plant Some Seeds and Watch Them Grow

So it's that time of year again, the sun is shinning, no more snow, so now is the time to start our newly expanded garden.  We started our tomato, green pepper, chili, and jalapenos seeds inside, those will get planted this week!  Look how big they are!

Saffron had a blast helping Derek last night planting carrots, onions, spinach, and lettuce.

I can wait for our garden veggies to grow....
and to be able to go out and pick them fresh for eating...
